Welcome to iTeach Today, a new way to share information that will impact on your day to day teaching with technology.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be sharing some useful tips&tricks as well as showcasing some of the wonderful initiatives that we think will have an impact on teaching and learning in your classroom. As you know, we’re all about learning.

Digital Leaders continues to grow and we are delighted that so many new schools have signed up for the programme this year. We will be holding Digital Leader Labs on 26th and 28th October and will update with a post then.

We have been amazed with the reception to our iCode initiative and with the introduction of iOS 10 on 13th September we will be updating it with Lesson Plans to support the wonderful new Swift Playgrounds app. Our teacher guide can be found here and you can register using the link above.

We are also delighted to announce that we are currently working in all regions across the U.K. img_0449This is a massive opportunity to work with many great educators across the country and we are delighted to welcome our new members of staff who will be supporting us in these regions.

With the release of iOS 10 the opportunities for the classroom have increased. In our next post we will look at the new Real-time collaboration features and how this will impact learning and teaching. For now we will give you a quick introduction to the new Markup editor in Photos. This feature adds to the creativity already present in the classroom using apps like Skitch previously. With this out of the box feature, you can draw on images, create callouts, add text, flip photos, and more. You’ll never have to download another basic photo editing app ever again!

Though you have always been able draw on photos using an app like Skitch, you can also access a new built-in Markup editor from the Photos app itself. This is a great addition and allows teachers and pupils the opportunity to quickly add text and shapes to an image to share with other pupils or as a quick snapshot of learning.

  1. Launch Photos from your home screen or spotlight search.
  2. Select the photo you would like to edit.
  3. Tap the Edit button (note: this now looks like a series of horizontal lines in the top toolbar.
  4. Tap the More (…) button.
  5. Tap Markup.
  6. That’s it. you can now add callouts, doodles and text to your photos.
