Outstanding training is at the very heart of everything we do. To make the iPad a successful tool and really impact teaching and learning, staff need CPD. That starts with the device itself, then moving by example through core apps, workflow and pedagogy. Our training is delivered by experienced staff, every one of them teachers and practitioners. They aim to get staff proficient in iPad use and really start to ‘Think Different’ in order to make a real, meaningful impact on teaching and learning.
Our training consists of ‘on demand‘ training according to the school needs, Apple Professional Development and Sustained training.
We then supplement this with day long courses for very specific content aimed at ICT Co-ordinators, ICT Technicians, Literacy, HoD’s and much much more – check out our entire course list here.
Our ‘on demand‘ sessions are very useful to get started, revisit a particular curriculum area, develop pupil skills or expand on specific ICT focus areas such as:
- Introduction to iPad in the classroom
- iWork – covering the main office type suite of Pages. Keynote and Numbers.
- iMovie – movie making hands on session for use in the classroom
- Explain Everything – our most popular app
- iPad for Numeracy / iPad for Literacy
- Creativity and critical thinking
- Collaboration and workflow
- Mac training – helping PC users understand and use the Apple Mac
- iPad MDM with meraki – for ICT technicians
We are also one of the biggest providers in the UK of ‘Apple Professional Development‘ – our staff are trained Apple Education Trainers, delivering from a list of Apple centric courses. APD is usually provided by your reseller or contract holder , and at iTeach we deliver all of the APD for schools in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The biggest impact comes from a sustained program of training. Regular, short bursts of training with real, meaningful take-aways across the academic year. This allows you to plan within the school calendar and build the program around the School Development Plan. Every school starts with our core aims and objectives and we plan training according to the unique needs of each schools SDP/SIP objectives.
We kick our training off with a meeting with the school SLT – this helps us plan together for real school improvement. We deliver a plan and set expectations and evaluation points throughout the year.
Training is carried out in three main ways:
Twilight – single or two hour slots after school in directed or staff time
Inset – Half or full day sessions (3 or 6 hour) in school development days
Rolling – combination of the above to provide a sustained program of training with fixed objectives and outcomes.
We’ve trained thousands of teachers across hundreds of schools throughout NI and Scotland, so let’s have a chat and see what fits for your school.
